PS3 storms ahead of 360 in Japan
After only a month on sale, Sony’s PS3 has already overtaken Xbox 360 in the Japanese market to cement an early second place in the next-gen battle in the Far East.
As Wii’s launch week sales of 400,000 make it the early leader in the Japanese market, Xbox 360 has sold fewer than 180,000 units in its first year on sale. PS3 recently surpassed this barrier, and already enjoys a lead of nearly 10,000 units, reports Spong.
Still, Microsoft has at least some good news to celebrate. Last week saw the release Microsoft’s hotly tipped RPG Blue Dragon, and Japanese gamers reportedly queued up to get their hands on the game or the hardware bundle.
Meanwhile, in a statement issued by Nintendo of America the company appears to have retracted its commitment to selling one million Wii consoles in North America by the end of the year.
According to GameDaily, the US arm of the hardware giant advised the media to ‘ignore’ a recent press statement that read “Despite shortages in some locations, well more than a million Wii systems will be available in the United States by the end of the year”.
Both gamers and retail alike had been made aware of the expected day one shortages of the console in the UK, but even so many retailers struggled to meet the day one allocations they had previously committed to.
Many gamers have now been left with an anxious wait to see if they'll receive their consoles in time for Christmas.

Sales of PlayStation 3 in Japan Top That of Xbox 360
It is a pretty well known fact to this point that Microsoft is not making much progress with the Xbox 360 in the region of the world as the Japanese are very reluctant to adopt the Microsoft-made product.
The Xbox 360 went on sale in about a year ago and to this day has only managed to move about 180,000 units of the next-generation console. The majority of Japanese gamers in the region pay little to no attention to it and act as if it does not even exist in their minds.
According to a report recently on Spong the PlayStation 3 has actually overtaken the Xbox 360 in already within a month of the console’s launch by around 10,000 units.
This is amazing to see how quickly Japanese gamers adopt the Sony console compared to the Microsoft console even with the higher price tag.
Microsoft is not giving up though in that part of the world as the Xbox 360 saw the release of Blue Dragon just last week, an RPG which could save the system in Japan. There were many people in line on launch for th econsole and limited edition console bundles sold out months ago so it may not be over yet for the Xbox 360 in .
The PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 can battle all they want though if your Nintendo as the Wii is the true seller that is cleaning up with sales in . The home console sold out at launch with about 400,000 units already in the hands of eager gamers who want to play the Wii for the first time. The Wii is currently the leader in the next-generation battle and should be for at least the distant future.

Well it took a whole month, but the Japanese have once again spoken with their wallets on how much home-grown means to them when it comes to gaming.
According to reports from MCV, sales figures indicate that the Sony PlayStation 3 has reached 190,000 units sold, with the Microsoft machine only managing around 180,000 for the past year!
This comes as no real surprise, in the second largest gaming market on Earth, Microsoft’s Xbox brand has always struggled. Whether it is simply a case of precocial purchasing attitude or – more likely – that the game choices for Xbox 360 versus PS3 are more Western centric in style, remains to be seen
Either way both Sony and Microsoft are lagging behind the continued momentum of the Nintendo Wii as it increases the gap on its rivals.

Approximately four weeks after initiating sales of its highly-anticipated PlayStation 3 game console, Sony Computer Entertainment Inc. has sold more units than Microsoft could supply to the market for the whole year in Japan, a market study claims.
Media Create, a Japanese sales tracking organization, claims that the number of PlayStation 3 units has reached nearly 188 thousand in Japan, meanwhile, Microsoft could sell only about 178 thousand throughout the whole year, reports Spong web-site. At the same time, Nintendo Wii enjoyed shipments of 400 thousand units, more than Sony’s and Microsoft’s consoles combined.
Japan, the domestic market for Sony, has been anticipating the PlayStation 3 much more than the Xbox 360, which is no surprise, as Microsoft’s game titles for the Xbox 360 are mainly aimed at gamers in the U.S. and, perhaps, Europe. The slow launch of the PlayStation 3 and undersupplies allowed Nintendo Wii to become the best-selling console in the country, which is a good sign for its producer.
Generally, the PlayStation 3 is a much more anticipated game console than the Wii and Xbox 360, however, its tight supply, potential issues, such as notorious upscaling problem, and higher price may catalyze gamers to look at competing platforms from Microsoft and Nintendo.
Sony PlayStation 3 console is based on the Cell processor developed by IBM, Sony and Toshiba, the RSX graphics chip by Nvidia Corp. and will be equipped with Blu-ray optical disk drive, a hardware part, which is merely available today.

PlayStation 3 has been selling out in record time everywhere the system has launched. It's one of the perks of high demand and low supply.
And Xbox 360 has done quite poorly in Japan, with the Japanese never really embracing the Microsoft's next-gen console. Nonetheless, it's still surprising that PlayStation 3 has actually overtaken the Xbox 360 within only 30 days of being released in Japan.

Figures confirming this sales slaughter have been confirmed by Media Create, the Japanese sales tracking organisation. Its just-published hardware sales figures for the week of 27th November to 3rd December show PS3 hardware sales reach 187,836 units for the period, taking it beyond the Xbox 360's lifetime total of 178,070 units.
On the other hand, it'll take a long, long time to achieve a similar feat in North America. It'll be fascinating to see how this race plays out.

já agora, kem axam k vai ganhar em portugal? muito provavelmente vão dizer X360, mas disseram io mesmo da Dreamcast e depois viu-se o resultado...
PS. deixei de fora a Wii pk axo k está num mercado diferente e n concorre directamente com PS3 e a 360.
uma coisa são as vendas, outra é a qualidade... existe uma grande diferença, e por menos falo por mim, eu sabia que ela ia vender muito, mas se as pessoas iam arrepender-se ou achar que tinha mais qualidade que a 360 ou outra, isso já é outra conversa... e nem eu posso confirmar isso...
