Neste momento estou a aguardar as respostas ás entrevistas.

Same here...

1) Please tell us more about what you do and what is guru3d.com

Hello

My name is Hilbert Hagedoorn and I'm the sole owner, chief editor of Guru3D.com / HardwareGuru.com Therefore I'm responsible for all content & development on this website.

Guru3D.com is a generation X website. We are targeted at the hardware enthusiast PC builder who likes to play games. In that process Guru3D.com is helping people to make choices in hardware matter by presenting guides, news and reviews and next to it functions as a troubleshooting and discussion platform with our forums. Next to that we serve a secondary objective which is to feed our userbase with free and easy downloads related to games and hardware of course

2) You have a very active forum. Who important are forums to the community and to the public in general?
Can they make a difference when choosing hardware or a game on peoples mind?

Our forums are quite big. We passed 1.5 million posts and think have roughly 90.000 members. These forums are moderated by a staff of over twenty talented people who in the beginning all started out as frequent visitors yet brought additional value to the forums by helping out users with their knowlegde.

Our forums are important as they function in a Q&A kind of way. 90% of our readers that go to our forums usually have a hardware or software issue. They seek help in solving a problem. Our forums are loaded with very knowledgeable users and it is exactly that system that is so great. People often find answer to solve their questions. You might consider it to be a free helpdesk ;)

The second part of your question I can concur. Yes choices in buying software often are based on experiences in our forums. People seek, read and notice which products have the most problems and therefor stay clear of it. It also works the other way around, often users ask which products work quite well plus how they perform and yeah .. people will help each other out in that decisive process of buying a product.

But foremost, our forums are designed to seek and find hardware solutions and sharing experiences.

3) I n the past years pc components, especially CPU and graphic card are evolving at a very fast rate. Are you impressed with what they are accomplishing or the best is yet to come?

I really am impressed with where we are now hardware wise. I'm really happy that there is so much competition in the Graphics industry. It drives down prices, and makes that evolutionary process of GPU design faster.

On the CPU side it is obvious that the manufacturers hit into a brick wall that they can't pass easily. The race for the fastest GHz has ended and even Intel noticed that it's not all about clock for clock performance.

Graphics rendering is (in the high-end series) right now often limited by raw CPU computational power as the two form a symbiosis. You'll read it a lot in our reviews, the CPU bottleneck. So if I was to be disappointed about something then it's two things .. the development in processing power of a CPU. And secondly, then answer that came from that industry. Both AMD and Intel introduced with much pride dual-core CPU technology, yet there hardly is a game on this globe that is supporting multi-threaded applications.

So it's a really difficult discussion. I have good hopes for the next-gen products though and yes, multi-threaded application programming is slowly becoming a standard also yet right now we just can't pick the real fruits of that labor now can we ? but once games really get a grasp for dual-core mutithreaded processing, that's where the extra performance will kick in and that's the point when I'll be impressed again.

4)Computers and Consoles are on a collision course when it comes down to games. Do you think they will both survive or, the consoles will eventually kill games on the PC?

Consoles will never kill PC gaming & they both will remain to exsist, period. Only downloading cracked version of games can kill PC gaming. The industry is loosing a large percentage of revenue due to the Internet. Everyone can grab a hacked game if you look hard enough.

In the end the industry is partly to blame though, prices on PC games are just ridiculously high, so people will seek an alternative. I'm not saying that's right but it's simply the way it works. Sell games at 30 bucks and you'll kill off the illegal industry for the bigger part. That's when PC gaming will become very much alive again. But I;m very positive as there are some excellent titles being developed as we speak.

5)What is your idea about the future of computers?

Better, faster, HD content, more wireless, exceptional image quality rendering in games. the PC will get closer to living room applications and of course gaming will go to a next level. The process of rendering games real-time is developing at an incredible rate. Multi-GPU solutions, faster framebuffer and let's not forget smaller fabrication processes that make it possible to put more transistors on that GPU. Over the next five to eight years expect cinematic movie rendering as we see in movies today.

But of course movies will look even better in that time-frame also, it's the paradox in which this industry works. We'll always be one step behind the movie industry. But we closed that gap significantly though.

6)The next-gen consoles are near. Are you impressed with them?

You know I am impressed with graphical and computational powers of the XBOX 360, yet there are way too little titles available for it. Next to that it's expensive (the console but more importantly the games), does not have a HD-DVD/BluRay. All these things we'll have in our PC over the next year and graphics quality will surpass the Xbox 360 this year .. so yeah I'm impressed but I'll still stick with the PC as that platform is upgradable and you will not be restricted so much.

7)PS3 or X-Box 360? Why?

Ay .. good question. I don't have an answer right now. For me to be able to answer that I really should have the PS3 in house and experience it's majestic powers. We'll just have to wait and see .. for now the PS3 appeals more to me than the 360 though. But that's more related to architectural decisions and R&D stages than the actual product. So I don't know just yet.

8)And what about Nintendo Revolution?

People have been flaming it haven't they ? When I first saw the footage of the Revolution i was like .. oh boy there goes Nintendo, as it does not look good. But perhaps exactly that is the power. It's much cheaper, offers nice gaming titles and perhaps Nintendo knows a thing or two more about game consoles than you and I know.

Do not forget that the majority of people are families that want to buy a XBOX360 yet can't afford it where the Revolution will cost something like 200 USD I think I heard. That might be the power for the Revolution, it's selling price.

But I'm a sucker for graphics .. so even then honestly I'd never buy one.

9)What do you think the games lack in order to compete in social status with music or movies?

What a lot of games fail in is a good story line. You need to feel connected to the game like if you where in it. The mind boggling 1st person shooters that are linear can bore a person very much.
F.e.a.r for example is/was a great title as you had a cinematic experience and the game was able to give you a good scare in a graphically fantastic looking environment. So yeah .. we need games that feel like if you are playing in a movie. It needs to be less linear and it needs an "x" factor.

It's personal though. I can't play Quake 4 longer than 15 minutes where others can play it all day and still can't get enough of it.

10)What games are you favourites all time favourites and what are you playing at this time?

Let's see ... favorite ones:

Sim City series
Age of empires series
RollerCoster/Zoo/Transport Tycoon series
Half-Life 1
PoD Racer
Far Cry
Formula 1 EA
Battlefield series
Medal of Honor series

Right now I'm playing Battle for Middle Earth 2, Rainbow Six - Lockdown & Age of Empires III which i think is a fantastic title.
